Albanian gambling offices to be trasferred uptown
Albanian authorities submitted amendments to the local gambling legislation this week. They proposed to change the location of casinos and bookmakers.
All gambling establishments located in the central part of cities will be moved uptown.
The country’s prime minister, Edi Rama, has already approved the proposed initiative. In this regard, all the bookmakers and casinos will close their offices in the center until December 31, 2018.
However, the authorities don’t disclose the exact location of the new gambling zones.
According to the politician, the central streets of one of the poorest cities in the world are now full of casinos. This trend continues to grow and only the government’s meddling can make a difference.
Rama also noted that local media publish a lot of information related to illegal betting. The authorities of Albania are going to fight against this. Perhaps many publications promoting illegal betting will be eliminated.
It should be noted that the country has a law prohibiting the illegal bookmakers’ advertising, but it’s practically not respected.
