Georgia approved new legislation on gambling
The current legislation regarding the regulation of gambling in the country will undergo significant changes. The local parliament has already approved the amendments.
Authorities plan to impose a ban on broadcasting of reindeer games and betting offices advertising on television and via Internet. A company that will continue to post videos on the specified media receives a penalty.
Also, players living in Georgia won’t be able to refill foreign bookmakers accounts and gambling operators.
Introducing such measures, the authorities hope to limit the transfer of funds to illegal bookmakers’ websites and thereby restock the country’s treasury.
After the final adoption of legislation, the local regulator will create a self-exclusion list. Players who want to restrict their access to the operators’ offers will get there. If the user is listed, he will no longer be able to participate in gambling and making bets. This initiative is directly related to the prevention of gambling addiction, which is currently actively developing in Georgia.
