Switzerland will close the market for foreign bookmakers
Swiss authorities have announced their willingness to tighten the betting market rules.
It is reported that the new rules preventing foreign bookmakers from working in the country will be introduced from 2019.
The government approved the proposed legislation and since then the foreign companies will be forced to leave the market while local operators will receive the necessary license.
All applications for a license will be considered for the first half of 2019 and licenses will be issued before July 1st. The foreign casinos ban will take its force from this moment.
Swiss authorities explain that such measures will help to overcome gambling addiction among problem players. Recently, this disease began to spread among the inhabitants of the country.
According to official statistics, the Swiss authorities spend around 200 million euros annually on gambling provided by foreign offices.
