The British authorities to introduce new restrictions for bookmakers

The British government intends to fight against an influence of gambling on the citizens’ lives.

The number of teams that have sponsored contracts with bookmakers increased dramatically in English Premier League. And also in Championship (the second English division) 17 of the teams already actively cooperate with gambling companies.

There is also an increase in sponsorship contracts between bookmakers and clubs in other sports. The number of advertisements for betting services increased not only at football stadiums, but also on television. In this regard, one of the leading parties in the UK proposed to start combating the excess of advertising of gambling companies. The deputy leader of the Labor Party, Tom Watson, proposed to introduce a complete ban on promoting gambling services during the sport matches broadcasts. Also, the politician insists on the bookmakers’ 1 % deduction of their income to the fund of fighting against gambling addiction.

A little earlier, the Labours proposed to exclude the possibility of recharging accounts on bookmaker sites with credit cards. According to the leaders of the party, this event will make it possible to return a sense of reality to the people.

According to online resources, 400 thousand children between the ages of 12 and 16 make bets on sporting events and 25,000 of them have gambling addiction.
